CHOOSING A WEDDING DATE FOR YOUR NOSARA DESTINATION WEDDING

Nosara’s climate is a tropical dry forest, which means that we have two seasons informally known as rainy and dry seasons.

The dry season is considered from November through April, although rain is not uncommon from November through early January. As you may have guessed, the dry season is the most popular choice for having a wedding in Nosara, but we think the rainy season has a special charm if you’re not set on having a beach wedding.

The month of July typically brings a little more sunshine than the other rainy season months, and in the past few years, May and June have been particularly rainy months.

Below we’ve broken down the pros and cons of each season so you can make an educated decision on which season is right for you and your wedding vision.

Dry Season Pros

  • Best for tropical beach vibes

  • Minimal risk of rain on your wedding day

  • Plenty of beautiful beach days for your guests to enjoy during their trip.

Rainy Season Pros

  • Best for lush jungle vibes

  • Discounts on accommodations

  • Discounts on flights

  • Restaurants & beaches not as crowded

  • Spectacular sunsets

Dry Season Cons

  • More expensive accommodations

  • More expensive flights

  • Beaches more crowded

  • Restaurants more crowded

Rainy Season Cons

  • High risk of rain on your wedding day (indoor wedding or tent rental suggested)

  • Beach water can be murky after rains

  • Beaches sometime covered in driftwood

THE PRICE OF GETTING MARRIED ON HOLIDAYS

Another factor you’ll want to keep in mind when choosing your wedding date is the increased cost of flights and accommodations for you and your guests during the holidays.

The two busiest weeks of the year in Nosara are the week between Christmas and New Year (Dec 25-Jan 1), and the week of Semana Santa (the week before Easter). During these two weeks, the demand for accommodations and flights is at the maximum and so are the prices.

Choosing a date that corresponds with a holiday week, may mean the difference between some of your guests being able to afford to make the journey to Costa Rica, or not. During these holiday weeks, we also recommend that your and your guest’s accommodations be booked 8-12 months in advance.

This is an example of the price variation you can expect to see from a vacation rental home between the two seasons and on holidays.
