Romantic, Boho, Pastel, Floral Goddesses: Current Trends To Make You Swoon.

Throughout the years there have been many wedding trends that have caught our eye. This year has been no exception. Some of our favorite trends to date have been popping up all over social media. These days it seems, women are going more and more for that “bridal look” and less for the “sexy bride”. We are seeing a lot more interest in flowing dresses, using fabrics such as chiffon, batiste, and organza. Lace is a popular option as well, sometimes with intricately detailed backing, creating the ultimate wow factor.

One of my favorite looks of 2015, is the bohemian theme that many brides are gravitating towards. It is a more romantic and soft look. The hair is more relaxed (many times substituting a veil for flowers), the makeup is more natural, and floral combinations for the bouquets often include the use of softer colors, wildflowers, and more greenery for a “freshly picked” look. To create a uniform look for the wedding party, many brides are choosing to have bridesmaids and flower girls dress in similar fabrics and floral headpieces as themselves. This romantic boho theme is often a favorite for brides having informal outdoor weddings due to the naturalness of it all.bouquetsandwreaths
I had a conversation regarding flower trends with my friend Brenda, who is a florist and owns her own flower shop, Brenda’s Bloomers, in Cape Neddick, Maine. She listed off garden roses, peonies, ranunculus, and hydrangeas as some of the more popular blooms, as well as the use of greenery such as ferns, olive leaves, and eucalyptus to accent the flowers. She said some brides are also getting more creative with their bouquets; adding adornments like feathers, shells, or pearls to the mix. When asked about color schemes, she stated, “pastels all the way.” How exciting it is regarding the use of pastels. There is just something about them at a wedding, that for me, makes everything seem that much more like a fairytale. This pastel color scheme seems to be a trend not just in bouquet colors but also in dresses, tablescapes, and centerpieces, enhancing that romantic softness of the day. Blush pink & mint, lavender & white, and dusty rose & sage are some of the combinations that are a hit right now.bridalcolorcombos
